Our Vision for March of Giants
Our studio was founded six years ago and built from the ground up to make March of Giants, our take on the MOBA genre.
From the very beginning, we knew we wanted to make a MOBA. We enjoy the unique design challenges, deeply engaged communities, and competitive spirit that define the genre. We also have tremendous respect for the systems that make them so rewarding to play: mastering a character, understanding the map and game flow, and coordinating with your team. Simply put, our goal is to make a game that delivers on the full MOBA experience.
A World In An Endless War
We looked toward the First World War and the industrial era surrounding it for inspiration, particularly its trenches, artillery, enormous armies, fortified positions, and shifting frontlines.
Those ideas fit naturally with the structure we envision for MOBAs. Lanes become fronts to advance and defend. Soldiers become armies moving across them. Objectives represent territory worth fighting over.
But we did not want March of Giants to be purely grounded in a historical setting. That industrial-war foundation is combined with a darker fairy-tale world that lets us move well beyond reality. Our Giants can draw from technology, folklore, experimentation, military history, monsters, and other ideas that fit within the world we've created.
Giants are powerful combatants on their own, but they're also commanders within a much larger battle. Their influence extends beyond their own abilities through the Soldiers that fight alongside them and the Battleworks they deploy across the battlefield.
Building on the Original Vision
When we introduced March of Giants during our Closed Alpha in September 2025, it was our first opportunity to see how a large group of players experienced our game. We gathered as much feedback as we could, played countless matches with the community, and immediately began working to improve the game.
To everyone who played in the Closed Alpha, your feedback was invaluable in shaping the future of March of Giants and making the game what it is today. We cannot thank you enough.
The foundations of March of Giants will still be familiar to those who have played, but many of the systems around them have evolved. We've expanded the role Soldiers can play during a match, added more interaction and counterplay around Battleworks, and made the spaces between lanes much more important to progression and map control. Itemization has also been expanded to support more specialized builds and different ways to play each Giant.
We've added new Giants, continued updating the returning roster, and made broader improvements across the map, UI, visuals, animations, game clarity, and many other parts of the game.
Welcome, and Welcome Back
During the transition to Ubisoft, much of our attention needed to remain focused inside the studio. Now we're ready to open the game again and bring players back into the development process with the Pioneer Playtest.
We'll be hosting a YouTube Premiere on October 7, where members of the development team will give you a closer look at March of Giants and kick off the Pioneer Playtest.
We're also reopening discussion in the official March of Giants Discord so players can reconnect, talk about the game, and share feedback throughout the playtest.
During Closed Alpha, we said that PvP games are a conversation. Internal testing can tell us a lot, but it cannot replace seeing how players use these systems, what strategies emerge, and where we still need to improve.
The Pioneer Playtest is our next chance to learn from you, and we're ready to see what you do with the game.
Whether you were with us during Closed Alpha or are discovering March of Giants for the first time, thank you for joining us.
We'll see you on the front.
